A lot of factors can affect the longevity of SPMU - every person is different, their skin type and how one adheres to the aftercare instructions.
Smoking and alcohol can affect a persons skin, which in turn, can affect SPMU. The sun and sunbeds are a major factor with SPMU. I always advise my clients to keep out of the sun straight after a treatment and the following weeks whilst the skin is healing. From then onwards, full protection should always be used over all SPMU areas.
Sunbeds and Sun will fade any SMPU, so think twice before sitting outside or booking a sunbed with no protection.
Certain medications and vitamins can also contribute to the retention of the pigments in the skin.
Skin creams containing AHA's should be avoided before any treatments are carried out, as AHA's can make the skin feel over sensitive. As some creams strip the top layers off the skin.
It must always be remembered that the pigments are permanently with you after SPMU, even though they fade visually, they will stay beneath the skin.
